Where to Grocery Shop?: Exploring Food Insecurity in Newark From the 1930s to Present Day

By Cara Willis

I am interested in exploring the relationship with food and the citizens of Newark New Jersey. I plan on doing this by analyzing over time the different food markets available from the 1930s to the 1950s then from the 1960s to the 1980s and finally until present day. I do not have one singular site I am focusing on rather multiple different food markets in the city ranging from butcher shops, to supermarkets, to community gardens, and corner stores also known as mom and pop stores.
